HL Stainless Steel Surface Finish (Hairline) – Properties and Applications
HL (Hairline) stainless steel surface finish is a decorative surface type obtained with fine longitudinal lines. It is especially preferred in interior architecture, elevator cabins, and modern façade systems. With its matte, brushed, and scratch-concealing structure, it is both aesthetic and functional.
Product Description:
HL surface finish is a matte coating with characteristic fine and parallel lines, obtained by brushing stainless steel in a single direction using special grinding machines. It is commonly referred to as a “hairline finish” and is processed with abrasives similar to Scotch-Brite.
This surface type provides a clean and modern appearance while adding visual depth and a sense of quality to the applied projects. It also effectively conceals surface imperfections such as scratches, stains, and fingerprints, offering a practical usage advantage.
HL stainless steel can also be described as a brushed, satin, or silk finish and is most commonly applied to 304, 316, and 430 grade stainless steels.
