Deep Drawing Austenitic Steels
X2CrNiN18-10 – 1.4311 / SUS304LN / Z3CN18-10Az / 304S61 / 2371
X2CrNiN18-10 – 1.4311 stainless steel belongs to the group of austenitic stainless steels and is designed to provide enhanced strength together with improved corrosion resistance. Commonly known as 304LN, this grade is a nitrogen-alloyed version of standard 304L stainless steel. The addition of nitrogen increases mechanical strength while also improving performance in certain demanding environments.
This steel typically contains approximately 18–20% chromium, 8–11% nickel, and controlled amounts of nitrogen. The presence of nitrogen enhances the material’s yield strength and contributes positively to its resistance to pitting corrosion. Its low carbon content (L grade) minimizes the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding, making it particularly suitable for welded structures.
Compared to 304L, X2CrNiN18-10 (304LN) offers higher yield strength, which allows the use of thinner sections while maintaining equivalent mechanical performance. This makes it highly advantageous in applications where weight optimization is important. At the same time, it retains high ductility, ensuring good resistance to impact and deformation.
This steel grade is suitable for both hot and cold forming processes and provides excellent weldability, allowing it to be easily integrated into various manufacturing methods. It also offers a high-quality surface finish, delivering a bright and aesthetic appearance suitable for both industrial and architectural applications.
In terms of corrosion resistance, it performs very well in general environments, and the combination of low carbon and nitrogen alloying results in a material that is both durable and long-lasting.
