Wear-Resistant Austenitic Steels
X8CrNi25-21 – 1.4845 / SUS310S / Z8CN25-20 / X6CrNi25-20 / 1Cr25Ni20Si2 / 2361
X8CrNi25-21 – 1.4845 stainless steel is one of the most heat-resistant grades within the austenitic stainless steel family. Commonly known as AISI 310S (SUS310S), this alloy is specifically designed for applications involving extreme temperatures. Compared to standard stainless steels, it can operate reliably at significantly higher temperatures, making it an essential material in heavy industry and high-temperature processing environments.
The chemical composition of this steel typically includes approximately 24–26% chromium and 19–22% nickel. The high chromium content forms a protective oxide layer, providing excellent resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures. Nickel stabilizes the austenitic structure, ensuring that the material maintains its ductility and structural integrity even under prolonged exposure to heat. As a result, it exhibits strong resistance to thermal deformation and creep.
Due to its low carbon content (S grade), the risk of intergranular corrosion after welding is significantly reduced. This makes the material suitable for large and complex welded structures. In addition, 1.4845 stainless steel can maintain its oxidation resistance at temperatures up to approximately 1100°C. Its resistance to thermal shock also provides an advantage in environments with rapid temperature fluctuations.
From a mechanical standpoint, this grade offers adequate strength and high ductility even at elevated temperatures. It is suitable for both hot and cold forming processes and provides good weldability, allowing it to be easily integrated into various manufacturing methods.
Overall, X8CrNi25-21 – 1.4845 (310S) stainless steel is a high-performance engineering material, delivering exceptional resistance to heat, oxidation, and harsh operating conditions, with reliable long-term performance.
